Wowee!

In life, school on August 28, 2008 by Seth Tagged: , , ,

Alright bloggers, I’m back! Sorry for the hiatus. Life has just been crazy! To make up for it I’m going to have a really long post.

There have been some exciting things going on in my life over the last month and I have been busy busy busy!

Here are some highlights:

CNN

Yes the rumors are true, I am a CNN intern! I have been there for two weeks and so far it has been a really great experience. Everyone in my department is super nice and I haven’t had to do any grunt work…yet. I’ll let you know when I have to make some coffee.

I am working in the Special Projects department. They do minute to minute and a half pieces on different things such as travel and business. Their pieces run on CNN, CNN.com, and Headline News. It’s pretty cool. I really like the constant changing of the pieces.

Boston Tea Party

Elizabeth and I had the opportunity to visit Boston a few weeks back. Can I just say, I LOVE Boston! It is so nice. Very pedestrian friendly and there are a lot of neat things to do. One of the big highlights of our trip was the Duck Tour we took. Here’s the duck that we actually rode (I randomly found a picture of it on the internet):

It was really awesome! If you ever go to a city and they offer Duck Tours, I highly recommend taking one. We went all over the city and into the river for half the tour. Plus, you get to quack at unsuspecting by-standards! Of course our Duck had to have the Red Sox on it. You would think they would put another team on there. I guess riding the duck was “betta than riding in a caa.”

We also got to ride the T (their much more efficient and better version of MARTA) up to Cambridge and visit around Harvard. There is a hamburger place there called “Mr. Bartley’s Burgers.” Wow. Amazing milkshakes, or as they call them up there, frappes. If you get a chance, go get one! We also toured Harvard which was a beautiful campus. I mean, who do they think they are? #1 school in the country or something? Oh…

22 Hours of Bliss

I am taking 22 hours this semester in hopes to graduate in December. It’s looking like that’s going to happen! Please understand if I don’t update all the time between now and December, it’s because school is kicking me in the teeth.

That’ll do.

Cheese Toast and Life

In life on July 2, 2008 by Seth Tagged: ,

Disclaimer: this post is a little out there.

Yesterday afternoon I got hungry. I needed some substance. In searching for a snack I had a brilliant revelation to have some nice cheese toast. I used to have cheese toast all the time as a child and it brought back some great memories. It’s probably been 5 years or more since I’ve had some.

It got me thinking…I have never had a bad piece of cheese toast. Cheese toast is consistently great. A constant source of goodness to my tasting pallet. So simple and yet so savory.

How many things can I say are the “cheese toasts” of my life. What remains constantly good? Definitely my wife. I would say my mom and a few friends also. It makes appreciate those people a lot. It’s hard to find good cheese toast in one’s life.

Who knew a simple snack could spur such thoughts?

What are the cheese toasts of your life?

I’ve had a slight hiatus in blogging world. Right now I am just basically contemplating life.

I am thinking how blessed I am to have a wonderful wife, how much I miss my family in Dahlonega, and where is this journalism degree going to lead me?

Should I go to grad school is what’s rumbling around in my head the most.

That’s about it right now.

MARTA Adventures #1 – Red Glasses Boy

In MARTA Adventures on June 18, 2008 by Seth Tagged: , ,

I have decided to do a post from time to time about my adventures on MARTA. I ride MARTA everyday to school and I must say, I have seen some interesting characters. Probably the most interesting of these characters is the star of Adventure #1 – Red Glasses Boy (RGB).

Last Thursday I walk to MARTA from the apartment. As I enter narrowly missing the closing doors I sit down at one of the benches that faces in to the car as opposed to the other front or back facing benches. I look up and see RGB. My jaw dropped….I literally had no words. This is what I saw:

RGB in full glory. He is pointing out the red shoes he’s wearing to match his red glasses. Of course the plaid high waters didn’t help his case either.

Then he was ashamed of his appearance.

I can’t even begin to think about why someone would need glasses like that. Dude, you look like a clown. I have some red Puma’s myself, but I don’t accessorize with glasses that look like they came out of a Tom Petty video gone wrong.

No good can come from this outfit.
